The fireplace and chimney in this quaint Ribble Valley cottage, in Hurst Green, near Clitheroe, Lancashire, required some careful attention to recreate the effect of the original, large, stone fireplace which had been damaged by older alterations.

Traditional Stone Fireplace

A Traditional Stone Fireplace, Installed by Marcus Whitehead Property Services.

The sand stone surround, which was manufactured and sourced locally, was quite a weight, and the chimney flue required mechanical support while the stone was installed upon a matching hearth. The new stone was stitched back in to the original stonework and the props then removed.
